Pastor Unable to Make Decision About Retirement

The Retirement party planned for Rev. Sally Phillips on January 31 has been cancelled indefinitely. After weeks of anticipation from the member’s of First Presbyterian Church of Brushwood Desert Pastor Sally still comes quietly to her office each week and preaches a vaguely familiar sermon from the pulpit.

“Of course I love Sally’s preaching, but I think at this point she has completely gone to her old sermon files to preach,” reports young adults leader Drew Tatusko. “I’ve heard session meetings have become quite tense, because no one wants to address the elephant in the room. Sally has been our beloved pastor for 23 years and basically saved this church. We don’t know what we would do without her. Fortunately, we have our Associate Pastor, Mel Thompson. If he wasn’t here I don’t think anything would get done.”

“It is always a shame when they can’t let go,” a sympathetic Francis Wolverton said. “I remember forcing one of my previous pastors to leave his office well after our new pastor had arrived. I thought I was going to have to call the cops.”
