Committee To Defend Against Change Begins Deliberations

Frances

This week was the initial meeting between the newly formed Committee to Defend Against Changes. Sister Frances Wolverton is Chair and one requirement for membership is that a person must be at least a 2nd generation Presbyterian. Another requirement is that a person will have never used Trespasses while reciting the Lord’s Prayer.

“We just wanted to keep the purity of the reformed tradition alive. We don’t feel like unless you have multiple generations of Presbyterians in your family you really get it yet.” Frances contends.

Their first item of agenda is the Form of Government report that many in the church are digesting. “Too much change!” was the general consensus amongst committee members. Next meeting will take up marriage equality in the Presbyterian Church. Many think they already know the committee’s take on this issue, but are interested in how they will creatively ask the church to essentially do nothing.

They will begin their ad campaign in the Fall “All Precident is Bad Precident!”

One Response to “Committee To Defend Against Change Begins Deliberations”

  1. The Rev'd Dr. Hedg E. Mony, Jr. Says:

    Alas, the hallow reporting reporting we have come to expect. After all, the Reformed tradition is so rarely served well by journalism. Yet, sometimes in error they make precisely the point at hand. Consider the comment;

    “Many think they already know the committee’s take on this issue, but are interested in how they will creatively ask the church to essentially do nothing. ”

    A Christian committee seeks to be *faithful* and not *creative.* Faithfulness is a quality of the elect and creativity is, well, a quality of the Creator. Newbes just don’t seem to get it. We must pray for them.
