“With all the knitting and crocheting groups sprouting up around the city we thought this might be a vital outreach, but it just turned out to be way too hard to learn” Marion Edlman Leftwich stated about the decision to stop the tatting circle at First Presbyterian Church of Capital City.

“We looked around and all the other churches already had outreaches with all other crafts. So, we thought we would try to revive the lace making art of tatting. Goodness, my fingers hurt for days after each lesson,” claimed Mary Reynolds.

“It really never caught on. From what I understand you need to have started tatting in youth. Since most of our members started at 60-70 it was doomed from the beginning,” Rev. Marion Goodspeed said shaking her head.

It will be interesting to see if the newest ministry at First catches fire, lard extraction.
